Terrible Customer Service

I am extremely frustrated. My firm received a non-renewal for the insurance policy because of the low income (although the income was exactly what was projected to them), but I understand and have no grievance for the non-renewal. The non-renewal was sent directly to the firm and had the opportunity to extend for a brief period if a small premium was paid timely. I immediately submitted the payment to Aspen American Insurance (to the address on the non-renewal). The payment was received timely but they refused to extend the coverage for the brief extended period because the payment was submitted directly to Aspen instead of to my agent (although nothing on the non-renewal indicated to submit the payment to my agent). My agent informed me it was their mistake to send the notice to me and it should have been sent directly to her. Aspen didn't honor the payment as being received timely since the payment was sent directly to them at the address in their notice and Aspen refused to provide the brief extension. I called Aspen shortly after submitting the check and never received a phone call back. I was finally able to speak to a human the day of the original expiration date to be informed the check would be returned to me and they refused to provide the brief extension. It's been almost a month since I sent the check and still have not received it or a call that it shouldn't have been sent directly to them. It was extremely frustrating experience and Aspen refused to do anything.
